DragonBall Z Abridged Season 2 Finale: Afterthoughts
June 4th, 2008.
DragonBall Z Abridged Episode 1 is uploaded onto YouTube.
Four years later, you’re still stuck with us.
The last four years have been unbelievable. Between the relationships I’ve built with the many talented, wonderful people I work with and the overwhelming amount of success that the series has met through the dedication and passion of everyone involved, I find myself humbled and so endeared toward not only this project, but all of its fans. With the most insight into the project, so close to its heart, I can’t believe what we’ve accomplished so far.
As Episode 30 has wrapped up and gone live, I reflect upon the course that has brought me to where I am. I cannot stress the bonds that this show has cemented for me, nor the insight it has given me. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours spent editing the show has more than fulfilled me, through the hundreds of thousands of fans who watch us, the dozens of friends and loved ones who supports us, and the feeling that we’re able to entertain and share our quirky, silly thoughts with the world, all the while supporting a series many of us grew up so close to.
To my fellow actors, editors, writers and directors, amateur and professional, thank you. You’ve all done so much and given me endless inspiration to continue pushing this project further and further; to break my comfort zone and strive for excellence. I work with amazing people who I owe the world to. This project could never, ever have happened if it weren’t for you and your dedication to the show.
To my friends outside of this whole arena, thank you for your endless support and for having such an open mind about my silly hobby. Thank you for understanding when I was so busy that I’d have to delay or cancel plans, thank you for the rides to and from the airport for conventions, thank you for always being there when I would need to vent after a stressful bout of work. Thank you for being such good friends, every one of you.
To Funimation, thank you for having patience with us and allowing us to share our version of DragonBall Z with the world. We have nothing but the up most respect for your company and only hope that we can continue to support and bolster the show.
To the conventions that continue to fly us out and give us the opportunity to share our minds and words and hearts with all our fans in person, thank you so very much. Especially Youmacon, the home of where Lanipator, Takahata101, MasakoX, Megami33 and I all met in person for the first time, cementing our friendships and introducing us to a whole new world and ways to interact with our fans. We hope we can continue to travel and meet people all over the country and, perhaps, even the world.
To our detractors, thank you for investing so much of your time and energy into fuming over our show. It’s good to know we have so much klout even with the ones who do not care for our material. No, really. Hits me right here. In my heart.
To my fiance Chris, thank you for your boundless patience and understanding. You’ve been there when I’ve doubted myself, when I’ve worked myself into a stupor, when I stayed up until 6 in the morning for nearly a week in a row trying to finish both Hellsing and Slug on time… You’ve been there for years now, holding my hand and giving me a place to rest my head when all is said and done. I love you, Christopher Kirkhoff.
Lastly, thank you. Our fans, our supporters, our fanatics and all of the people who continue to come back to our silly internet parody. You’d invested time, money, and thousands of comments telling us how much you enjoy our material. You’ve helped keep us going through the worst of time and have brought out the best in all of us. A thank you to every one of you.
So, what do we have in store for Season 3? Well, first we’re going to take a small break. Nothing too huge, nothing like the break between Season 1 and Season 2, but big enough so we can find some room to breathe and prepare for what’s coming up next. Don’t worry though, we still have material we’re working on before then!
Thank you, one and all, and we hope that we can continue to entertain at this level, and levels above.
